Travelling to the USA for 2 months
Discussion
Hi guys,
Later this year i was planning on travelling to the USA for around 2 months to visit my cousin in LA.
The problem is I'm not sure how much I'd have to bring with me seeing as I'd be staying with him for 2 months which i know is a long time.
He has a job and an apartment which i'll share for the holiday however I'm not exactly loaded at the moment and I'd be lucky to scrape together $500 which I'm hoping Isn't too bad but i don't want to be turned down at the airport..
Would it be worth risking it or shall i try and save up more?
Thanks

If you turn up at LAX Immigration and they ask you how much money you have, and you can only answer "$500 - for 2 months", you'll be back on the plane! They'll tell you you don't have enough to support yourself in the time and will assume, probably correctly, that you;ll try to work there illegally to get by.
I used to travel very regularly to/from LAX when I was in my early 20s as my brother lived nr. LA. I didn't have a great deal of money then, but I did have a credit card. That alone saved me from being kicked out pretty sharpish.
