touring car gearboxes....
Discussion
Hello all,
I'm looking for a gearbox what touring cars in the 90's used to use, i.e xtrac 6speed, I wouldn't mind a Sequential box but the cost will spiral??
Now its going to fitted to my track toy which is a fwd, with the engine spinning anti-clockwise..
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've always fancied a aftermarket gearbox, I know it won't be a straight bolt one but making an adapter to suit the box won't be much of problem.
Thanks

What exactly is it for ? and what is so special about it, that a "touring car" gearbox is required ?I'm looking for a gearbox what touring cars in the 90's used to use, i.e xtrac 6speed, I wouldn't mind a Sequential box but the cost will spiral??

Whatever a touring car gearbox actually is ?
And I'd think a gearbox used in such cars would cost a fortune.
thanks for the replies,
the cars a integra type r, which im currently using as a track car. However the whole car is getting a overhaul plus i have a good offer on my current gearbox and always wanted a racing gearbox so timing is spot on.
I used the "term" touring car as thats what my set up will be simlair to once the car is fully prepped, im not sure what compaines are out there which can cater for my needs...??
anyone have a rough idea on price? further more how many miles can these boxes doing before needing a overhaul?
I will contact Xtrac tomorrow
thanks

Given most boxes will be custom built for each car, have ratios to suit a high revving car around a race track, perfectly matched to that cars needs...the cars a integra type r, which im currently using as a track car. Really, there is no generic solution for you.
I'd have thought a genuine gearbox used in a touring car would be upwards of £10k, and then some ? Wouldnt be surprised if it was double that TBH.
A friend bought a Sadev sequential box for his 205 rally car and it was over 12k. They don't come cheap.
I suspect there's probably a straight cut dog set for the Honda box though; that will at least get you lots of noise and fast gear changes.
Edit: [ur]here you go|http://www.eliteracingtransmissions.com/adm/products/4xl250-6s/[/url]. Just £2500 of your English pounds, including the final drive.
