We have to be close, saloon cars pushing 600bhp from the factory soon, where is the limit? I can only think that it will get to a point where more power doesn't help. for exmaple M5 has gone 270-340-400-500 now 600bhp (prototype), sure 700 next will just be unusable and push supercars off the map. In 5 years time what will we be buying?
Smaller engines with a turbo or 2, + electric motors for aditional torque and emissions free running in city traffic. Power levels will max at around todays levels.
Slowly the electric motors will get bigger and the engines smaller, until the engine is only used for charging the batteries.
Then after that we'll have flying cars, live on the moon and eat dried food from packets.
