Speaker choice for a home theatre
Discussion
As i am getting close to the point of moving in to my place i need to start looking at getting the front room sorted so that means speaker buying time
I have an onkyo tx sr608 to run whatever i buy but due to the size of the room i will probably stick to 5.1.
Luckily i have an other half who believes a speaker should look like a speaker so that means im not limited to lifestyle speakers but i cant go too mad as the telly is in the corner of the room so i can thave hooje speakers
I seem to have narrowed the choices down to the following but after this i cant really narrow it down much further - anyone had any experience with the speakers below
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c... - Tannoy is a good brand and as they are the older models now look at that discount, i would have to buy speaker brackets for the rears but they have the advantage of being big floorstanders and looking like a speaker should
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c... - I know Wharfdale used to make good speakers but it has been a while since i have looked at them, this would however mean i would need at least two speaker stands and mount the rears to the wall
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c... - The lack of a sub is not a problem as i have a Ruark sub that i can use and like the sound of but it would mean another 130ish on stands/wall brackets ontop
These are a brand that are reasonably unheard of in the UK but pretty much most people i talk to say that they are worth every single penny and then some and they look to be a pretty populair brand in Germany, Teufel a German manufacturer that dont sell in shops, you buy right from the factory but you get 8weeks to try them in your house and then a 12year gaurantee if you keep them
http://www.teufelaudio.co.uk/home-cinema-speakers/... - yes i know they are lifestyle speakers but they look a good system, it would mean assing the cost of the stands/brackets and that is an extra £90
The following two passed the She Who Must Be Obeyed test with 100% perfect flying colours
http://www.teufelaudio.co.uk/home-cinema-speakers/... - i do like the look of these but as we all know how a speaker looks and sounds are two seperate things and positioning the rear may be difficult
http://www.teufelaudio.co.uk/home-cinema-speakers/... - the ones i would have to get really are the stand mount fronts and the wallmounts for the rears

Did a lot of auditioning myself and chose these: http://www.kef.com/gb/SurroundSound/kht/3000
I would listen to whatever you're considering first and go with what is best for your ears. Good luck!

thats why im leaning towards the Teufels at the moment due to the 8week listen to them in your own place audition period
So, if others tell you these are good perhaps they'll let you listen to their examples before you order.I'm not suggesting they won't suit you but, you order, they come, you set up, they sound ok.
Without comparison you'll never know how ok in relation to others at your budget and, if you did, to their detriment, it'd be an utter ballache to repack and return them.
