There are often local breast feeding support groups. My health visitor was a breast feeding counsellor and I attended a local support group that she helped run, I found it really useful and gave me confidence to continue when I almost gave up (I did mixed feeding in the end but almost quit completely)
First few days are very hard, I was very naive and thought it'd be easy. It was made harder becasue my little boy was a small baby and we discovered he had tongue tie that made him feeding from me harder.
Remember there is no shame in an occasional top up feed to help if things are proving a struggle to start with but the good news is babaies don't need much for the first few days.
Is baby gaining weight?

Contact your local NCT group - they usually run breastfeeding support groups (my OH thought about mentoring in one of our local groups).
This.A friend has just had smilar problems and was amazed to find that there were two people living within a couple of hundred yards of his house, one of whom was more than happy to pop round and spend an evening with her, and more if needed.
thanks - tried www.lcgb.org but they all seem to be on holiday! have just left a message for nct to ring back had forgotten about them
Many local areas have a volunteer peer support system who are trained to support new mums. Contact your midwife (if you are still seeing her) or your health visitor who should be able to inform you of your local services.
Nothing is better than having someone sit with her for a full feed, but if there's any advice I can give over email, feel free to message me.

My mum was, and cousin still is, a counsellor for them. As it's almost all volunteers they are much more flexible, I used to go to calls with my mum occasionally, make tea and occasionally hold the baby so that they could talk without the little'un crying - they do really good work.
If anybody's thinking about volunteering etc., go for it.
