Slight vibration....any ideas?
Discussion
I have had the tracking and balancing done recently and all feels good. However, there must be a very slight vibration which is hard to notice as on long trips I get pins and needles in my hand. The doctor says my heart is fine (for a fat bloke) so I am assuming there is a problem with the car. Could it need new front bushes? Any ideas are welcome, medical or otherwise!

No medical training or knowledge but I'd suspect if there is not enough vibration to be apparent to you, the problem may be lack of circulation (from being frozen in the same position for so long) rather than vibration as such?
If so, might find that moving your arms and shoulders around from time to time improves things. Also, sounds silly but put a jumper on. Circulation is reduced if you're cold.
Hope this helps,

PS also try lots of violent acceleration, steering and braking manoevers to help slosh the blood around. You know it makes sense!

I find this happens too. I think it may be due to (or made worse by) holding the wheel tightly. The steering wheel leather has a fairly slick surface so I need a reasonable grip on it to get purchase, particularly if its cold so the hands are dry. Throwing any feeble pretence of fashion consciousness away, I got some driving gloves and find they make a big difference. A much lighter grip gives excellent purchase on the wheel, and no doubt they damp the vibration a little bit too.
I used to get pins and needles too - it turned out to be two things:
1. As has been said before holding the wheel too tight.
2. Resting my right arm on the door trim where the ciggie lighter is, my elbow goes one side of the ridge the rest goes the other and blocks some of the circulation.
I think Peter has the best idea!
