Has anyone been watching the new series?
The storyline is implausible, the scripts are incredibly cheesy and the action sequences are very 'A-Team', but the camera work, the sets and the directing are really excellent.
In fact, the tecxhnical aspects and the gratuitous beach babe footage is good enough to make this escapist pap almost worth watching.

That and the music & intro with the wobbly long range zoom in on Steve McGarrett.

Does McGarrett say "Book 'em Danno" at the end of each episode? That's all that matters.
He has done in the episodes I've seen so far
I never really saw the original but I understand that was pretty cheesy aswell. It's what I was expecting it to be, good bit of easy viewing for a Sunday night. I have the added bonus that Alex O'loughlin is the main character
, though he doesn't look as good as he did in Moonlight and I hope he relaxes into the role a bit more over next few episodes sparkythecat said:

That's pretty much how I remember the original. The storyline is implausible, the scripts are incredibly cheesy and the action sequences are very 'A-Team'

And he played the same character now as Governor Dan Williams in a 1997 TV mini-film remake of Hawaii Five-O. Never heard of that one, must have been a US transmission only, quite highly rated on IMDB though.

"Gov. Dan Williams, the one-time No. 2 in command at Hawaii Five-O, is shot while delivering a speech. Retired members of Five-O, including Kono, Chin Ho and Duke, join forces with the current Five-O to find the attacker. They eventually uncover a plot involving the Russian mafia."

Agree with what you say. Camera work, setting and cars make it. Very easy watching and a little mind numbing. Sometimes I need that
Exactly, sometimes we just need these types of programmes, easy to watch without concentrating and just enjoyable.
Not every show has to be groundbreaking with immense acting and scripting, an easy life, thats all we need sometimes!
