Fitted Wardrobes
Discussion
Before you can get ideas you need to determine:
- What size is the room?
- Is the room an odd shape, e.g. sloping ceiling, T shaped, etc.?
- How much stuff needs to be stored?
- Are units required to be either side, and over, bed?

We are giving a complete room to it that is 15 ft x 14 ft, My plan is to have the wardrobes on opposite facing walls running pretty much the full lengths but as you say its just getting the best designs and dimensions to A) look good and B) take care of our requirements, My man has stated he will make whatever drawing I give to him but thats what he wants from me.
If it really comes to it then I can design something but wanted to get some expert advise from the type of companies mentioned as although expensive I think their designs work, We did have a very small dressing room fitted at last house which was maybe only about 6ft x 6ft it looked great and quality was high but from memory I think we paid abouy 2.5 K for it, I can see what we are now planning to be in excess of 10K which for me to spend on a wardrobe would be crazy, I have found good supplier of internal parts and the carpetner works to a very high standard so think I can do it for a fraction of what I anticipate the Hammonds / Sharps could do.

We've been looking at these guys: http://www.diyhomefit.co.uk/ but haven't taken the plunge yet.
What I do know is that it seems a few of the local independents supply and fit the same units, but at three times the cost. Our joiner quoted a couple of days work to fit the wardrobes we wanted, and the 'local specialist' quoted 2.5K on top of the unit prices on that site.

Sorry but sounds like he cant be bothered - surely as an experienced joiner he should be able to recomend layouts and advise on the best installation/design for your room.
We design, manufacture and install all of our wardrobes from the original hand drawings to arranging decorators and even cleaners!
Have a think about what you want to store - I would recomend at least 2m of single height hanging per person (shirts/trousers) and 2m total of full height hanging for skirts, dresses and long jackets.
Dont forget lots of shelves, pigeon holes are nice for small items like t-shirts and shoes but longer runs are more useable in real world conditions.
Dont go for 'usefull' accesories like pull out trouser hangers, tie hangers etc as they will eventualy fail and in a few years replacement parts will be expensive.
Also if you are installing a lot of units be careful that you are not going to overpower the room - maybe add a built in dressing table, or large mirror to break thinsg up a bit.

Sorry didnt check the bit about it being a dressing room, assume you are not having doors then?
Dont forget to spend money on good drawers and good runners - a minimum of a fully concealed anti slam ball bearing drawer runner(check accuride and grass supplied by hafele/wurth)
For a drawer of 600mmx600mmx200mm we would charge 150.00+vat for a solid ash dovetailed drawer box (runners included) so not that expensive in the grand scheme. But a bad/wobbly drawer will drive you mad and really let the job down.
I know one of our installations would not cost 10k unless it was very highly spoecced!
