Strange question I know, but for one reason or another I've hardly ridden in the passenger seat of my MX5 since I swapped my 2.0 Options Pack for a 2.0 Sport with air con.

I did a few days ago when my girlfriend drove, and I might be imagining this, but I'm sure the passenger side foot well is shorter in this car.

The only major mechanical difference I can think of is the addition of air con (there are other things like a six speed box, but I can't see that having any effect). So I wonder if it's possible that they've shortened the foot well to accommodate it?

Or am I just imagining it.

Anyone know?

Maybe you had the seat further forward wink

On Mk1/2 the pax footwell is where the ecu is mounted so there is always less legroom than on the drivers side, I don't know if this is the same on Mk3 but I guess you are saying that there appears to be less pax legroom in a 2.0 Sport compared to a 2.0 Option Pack in which case I have no idea...

Nope, seat firmly against the rear bulkhead on both (girlfriend is 6ft 1, needs all the legroom she can get).

The passenger footwell is much shorter than the drivers, that's for definite.

It's just whether adding air con shortens it again that I'm curious about, given that it does appear to be shorter than my previous car (although I can't be certain as it was a big gap between sitting in both on passenger side).

Pretty sure they are the same, but the Passenger footwell is quite a bit shorter than the Driver's footwell.

Glad I don't 'ever' sit in the passenger side of my car as I barely fit in the Driver's side - legs are too long!

O/T - Did you get my email yesterday Jonny?

I think you can modify the passenger footwell? I'm sure I've read other people have done it.

Are the seats the same or are the Sport seats deeper/thicker stopping them going back as far?
Did SWMBO have her handbag stuffed behind the seat wink

I don't think the seats are any thicker, they're leather on the new car but that's the only obvious difference.

I might be completely imagining it and the footwell may very well have been the same length on the old car, just don't remember it being so obviously so.

No agree, there seems to be nowhere near as much legroom in the passenger footwell

There is a thick plastic panel where your feet go in the passenger side.
Some people remove it.

How? My longer legged passengers and me when SWMBO is driving are a little cramped
