florence end of feb?

I lived there for a year back in the late 90s, great place, very scenic countyside round the outside. At the time I was a bit young for the nightlife side of things but by all accounts it's OK. Also got dragged around a zillion churches to look at renaissance frescos which yeah, they're great, but get dull kinda quickly especially if you're not religious or an art student.
Went to Florence for our honeymoon. We went in october so cant comment on weather/crowds.
Spent a lot of time walking around taking it in and the best bits were the Ponte Vecchio bridge, Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio and Boboli Garden at Pitti Palace which is south of the river. The leather market was pretty cool as well.
Some sites can be really busy so the Boboli garden is great to get away from the crowds and it has some amazing views of Florence and surrounding countryside.
Also went to the Uffizi but found it a bit tedious (not really art lovers).
Best bits were sitting in the squares drinking good coffee/wine taking it in and watching people. Also made us realise how smart the locals were which made us feel scruffy.
If you fancy doing something a bit different you can climb to the top of the Duomo, it can be hard work and not good if you're claustrophobic, but the views are incredible.

I'm from Florence
Don't miss the views from Piazzale Michelangelo, go see the David (!), there's tons of stuff to go see, depends how many days and what you normally like!
Weather could be still rubbish, and cold, and possibly a little less crowded although tourists visit all year round really...

We went over Feb Half-Term. Bit nippy but very sunny. It's my favourite European city! Fantastic place. Don't miss the chance to have a look around the house where Botticelli used to live. And obviously 'David'. A walk in the surrounding hills is definitely worth it, plus a walk over the river up the hill which overlooks the city.
Loads to see and do!

got back last week, the weather was sunny but cold, pretty cold at night especially when you come out of the narrow streets into the piazzas!
the hotel realis santa croce was a fantastic 5 star hotel, http://www.relaisantacroce.com/en/hotel
theres plenty to see, too much really for a long weekend, you really need to book all the mueseum in advance as the lines to get in were still long, dont go on a sunday to the curches etc as thats the most busiest.
if you want jewellery and leather goods then this place has it all.
the main shopping road has every designer shop there is, d&g, prada, armani, cartier, etc all in one road so take your credit card!!!
