The old eunos is getting annoying now. Sometimes the engine seems to struggle and almost misfire but then will have a huge surge and be fine again. Like something is getting stuck either open or closed in the throttle body. Is it a knackered ISCV? If so, should I just get a new one or try and strip and rebuild?

Not the leads and or plugs breaking down is it? A change of leads to some decent high performance ones solved a few similar issues for me.

More likely to be one or more of:
- engine temp sensor
- plug leads
- coil pack

Cheers for the quick replies. Some days its fine some days its stuck, running awful. A little downshifting can fix the issue sometimes. (hence why I didn't think it was electrical). I'm finding it a little perplexing.

Plug leads - my experience is that MX-5s like to wreck plug leads of fun.

They are cheap, and if you've not personally replaced them yourself in the last couple of years, then I will almost guarantee they need doing. Don't bother with fancy coloured rubbish - just bog stock replacements.
