...when I finally get it up for sale soon.

Just had a trip from Newcastle to Epping Forest with plenty of hooning (where safe to do so).

All these TDI, TDCI, "sporty wk foglight", 4x4 bling, modern wker cars are absolutely no match whatsoever for an 11 year old 4.4L V8 superbarge.

Awesomeness abounds with every opportunity to speed up - it's always asking for more no matter what the speed and has far more to give than I could ever even contemplate on a public road.

There really is no replacement for displacement.

Thing is, I'll only get 4k tops for it and I just can't see how I'm going to be able to buy that level of performance and bargeness for the money.

But the wife has spoken so she must be sold now we are a sensible family and have a Primera estate as well.

Just wanted to share my predicament.

To be fair, £2500 is nearer the mark, particularly if prospective buyers see what you paid for it 18 months ago...

Yeah you could be right. It's got 3k+ of new OEM components in it plus 2 sets of wheels/tyres plus 3 spare tyres. Someone who appreciates the work that it's had may have the sense to realise this is cheaper than getting a 2.5k shed which will then bleed them big style.

Anyway, so my awesomeness is going to be sold for not a lot all things considered, and I'm starting the grieving process early. It's the closest thing to a supercar I'm likely to own for quite some time.

Indeed I have been. Apart from my gaming rig PC it's the last vestige of my man-ness left.

I miss mine all the time. A phenomenal car.
The best bit for me were the seats. Fantastic. Like sitting in Club Europe on the LHR-ZUR shuttle.

Mine didn't have a throughload from the boot (or whatever it's called). I had to get to Gatwick fast for a ski holiday and decided to park up in Short-Term. No problem, I just dropped the front passenger seat all the way down, and fed the 25kg board bag through the rear passenger door and let it rest. Then floored it from North London ('cos I was late).

When I handed over the keys I ran out of memory card space on my camera as I couldn't stop taking pictures for posterity.

I'd have another. Black, with the full comms pack.

If you get £2500 for it, is it worth it?
You also have a Primera Estate to cover sensible?

Cheaper to take her to Paris for the Weekend on the basis THE E38 STAYS?

Club Europe seats are pretty st... they're actually the same as the ones in economy... not even close to the BMW's

Mine made way for a new merc e class coupe and I still miss it now (got the merc in September). Luckily its with a family member so I can buy it back in a few years. Arctic silver, full comms including the tiny motorola flip phone! Pure class.

Agree with you there. The 7 series is fantastic. I miss my 750 like hell.

I'm more alluding to the fact that you've got more legroom, and if you're unlucky enough to have a fat numpty in your row, he's at least 20 inches away, not with his belly playing with any demarcation!

But seriously the one thing I genuinely miss from the E38 seats was the upper back/shoulder adjustment. I don't have it in the CL and it makes a real difference. Great seats. Great car.
