Contemporary, stylish, cheap bathroom - where, who, how etc?

Hi,

we live in a modest flat around 15 years old that is starting to feel its age. The new kitchen is about 4 weeks away and the bathroom is the next project. We're not expecting to be living here much beyond twelve months so don't want to spend anything more than necessary but want to give the bathroom a total refresh and to help attract a buyer when the time comes.

We'll be replacing the current three piece suite as it is in a bit of a sorry state and will replace the chintzy tiles and the knackered carpeting. Anyone have any suggestions on suppliers/ranges/general ideas? I'm hoping the likes of B+Q/Homebase/Bathstore(?) will be able to provide us with fairly cheap but stylish looking suites and taps, while I imagine the sort of "look" we should be aiming for is beige tiles on the walls and floor - or maybe oak effect flooring.

Am I right?

Anyone have any experiences or suggestions?

TBH if you're going to sell soon I'd just put in a clean but basic and functional white suite from somewhere like Wickes or Gibbs & Dandy. Re-tile with clean but cheap white tiles and lay a cheap lino floor. No point spending loads of money when you can't guarantee it'll be to the next owners taste anyway, as long as it loks neat and tidy a buyer shouldn't be put off. A fancy bathroom may make your house stand out slightly over the competition but is unlikely to add any value.
