It's a great event, one of the few rally events in the south. It's brilliant!

It's a decent enough local rally but frankly the organisers have missed an opportunity ONCE AGAIN to make this economically sensible to follow as an event. You can't get an overall pass covering both Somerley and the Wareham stages for less than £50 and in my view that's ridiculous.
So you get the choice of spending half the bloody day waiting in forests for the Somerley stages to complete, or visit the circus at Somerley (note: new layout this year) which has limited access (confined within the house grounds) and few photographic/viewibg spots not ruined by hay bales and banners from Turbo Torque.

Please, does anyone have any tips for good out of the way spectator spots?
Done Somerly house once and didn't find it very exciting or good value for money. Would like to find a fast section/corner that I can set up a chair and flask at and not be bothered.
Have 4x4 so the further from crowds it is, the better.
Perhaps there is a landowner who would grant PHers access to an exclusive spot?

we always watched in bournemouth but they don't run through the park anymore

Stages and start times should be on the Sunseeker website. You can get to three, maybe four stages on the day if you plan carefully. Furthest one out, official carparkwise is the Wareham Forest stage but there are various parking and entry points possible with this one. A good place to watch is Ringwood North, past the Sommerley entrance. From the carpark follow spectators walking through the woods, turn left when you get to the stage, and walk along the stage to the first corner, a left hander. At this pont you can see the cars twice as the stage loops away from you and then returns again. Working out where to watch is half the fun.

Yeah you have to make do with the tremendous spectacle which is a static display at Poole Quay instead. I understand that despite the huge crowds the night stage brought into the town centre, that Bournmouth Council tried to squeeze the Organisers for even bigger fees and killed thier Golden Goose in the process.Tossers.

Its a bit of a shame that there wont be many wrc cars entered now the ANCRO series has gone under but its good to see the south finally has a round of the BRC.

Neither events compare to proper Welsh stages but it's all we have in the south.
I haven't decided if I'll go yet, entry isn't overflowing.

I've always gone to Ringwood North, a good stage, plenty of good places to watch. So, I've read that this year, it's a non-speccy stage. What's all that about? Ridiculous....Allyc85 said:
That will be due to the fact that the car parks turned into a mud bath last year and most had to be towed out by tractors. Im sure if they could find different car parks they would let it be a speccy stage.
Yes, I saw a post on another forum from one of the organsers. A big shame, it's a good stage. Saying that, the entry this year is hardly jaw dropping - I'll leave it until Thursday/Friday before deciding whether to travel down or not.y2blade said:

We always go to a stage near verwood, there's a housing estate you can park in, walk about 200 yards and there's access to a great big open space with a flat out straight and a sharp hairpin. Is that the Eblake one (IIRC), where you walk past the golf course? Some good views round there, and it's cheap. Gutted they cancelled the Bournemouth stages in the Gardens - luckily I get the F1 outside my office to compensate, but B'mth council really are cahoonts of the highest order.Obviously paying the car park fee is supporting the event though, and some of the forest stages are great so may be worth the investment!
