TVR Power Takara

Hi need a little bit of help, i am in the market for a TVR Griffith 500 and just been pipped to the post for a very nice red one from Stephen James.... :-(
I have been looking though and STR8 SIX has a Griffith with a TVR Power Takara engine upgrade, that is in a similar price bracket but apart from the info on the TVR power website, which tells me that it will be an alomost a complelty rebuilt engine ( which is a good thing) but i can not find out what sort of power it will produce, are we talking 10-20bhp... i doubt it looking at the costs so my guess would be 50-75bhp, which maybe a bit too much of a jump (i own a 160bhp westie - 260bhp per tonne)
Lastly how tractable/docile is it and how reliable? any thoughts help appreciatted.

I had the use of a Takara 5.0ltr for a few days, it's a not quick car by any means- it's insane! The thing is still spinning the rears in 3rd!
If you love the Griff styling but are a little concerned about keeping with the Cerbs and Sags get a Takara. They'll have problems keeping up with you. Just get it checked by Dom at TVR Power.

If it's the black one it used to belong to my old mate John Gray. It's been maintained regardless of expense and John is an engineer with a pit in his garage..... The upgrade was done about 4 or 5 years ago and has never given a moment's trouble to my knowledge - and the car has been round Spain with me 7 times and never missed a beat
Added to this the small fortune John spent on retrimming it. I think it's up for silly money - should be more really!

Yes the Black Griff was ours for nine very enjoyable years. We have many great memories with 'Black Bully' and we hope it goes to a good home. Taraka upgrade included a total strip and rebuild of top and bottom ends. Power dyno tested a few years ago at 270bhp at the wheels. Car is very comfortable to drive at low speed and very stable high speeds
