Got a full day in a Caterham on the Indy circuit booked for Monday. It might just be the day that (finally) convinces me to sell the Noble.If I'm gonna get a car of that ilk, it's got to be soon before the arthritus kicks in and my mode of transport becomes a Stannah chairlift.

Not sure of the spec at this stage did a slalom day last year, and road tested a CSR and a R400SV also.It's more about spending plenty of time in the car, whether I can stay comfy for a length of time and if it chucks it down am I going to be put off ? etcBondy
At this stage my train of thought is that having only done 2K miles in my M400 in the last 12 months, if I'm going to drive a toy that little, it may as well be something even more raw and impractical!

I just sold mine, you will be blown away by the acceleration! Feels twice as fast as a craterham 500. Believe me you get very wet when it rains.
caterhams are great. I had one and have a drift day booked for april which i am very much looking forward to.
I loved my seven and would have another, but not at the expense of the noble. I would never dream of driving too far in the seven and puting the roof on is a right pain if the heavens open mid journey. the noble i would happily drive all day.
you could get a seven replica for pretty cheap money, and keep the noble........

Have to say that's pretty much what I've been thinking all along, and the pitfalls you speak of are what put's me off before. Hi Rob, long time no Hello! Did chuckle at your comment " when will you learn?!" I've a horrible feeling of deja vu over this, and the thought of spending 9 months finding another 400 like last time doesn't appeal.I own a Noble and a kit car (MK Indy)
Noble as you know are planted where as a kit car relies so much on mechanical grip! on a track & road the car moves around a lot more especially on cold tyres. we dont have a screen so you are exposed to the elements that makes it colder but more fun! driving at 40 down the street feels about 60, so when your accelerating its a fantastic!!
Be prepared for A LOT of niggles and faults! and MOT's can be a bit of a hit & miss! (emissions)
I would say it costs us £600 (tax/insurance/MOT/maintenance) a year to run our kit car. we picked ours up for £5k; put a pinto engine in and a few other mod's we think 0-60 is about 5-6 seconds.

Well did the Caterham circuit day, and it has really got me thinking, it just might be a itch that needs to be scratched once and for all and a 7 year association with Nobles may be coming to an end. My M400 is my pride and joy, and for me is too nice to put it on track,I'd be gutted if it got heavily stonechipped,damaged etc but trackdays are something I'd like to do before I'm an even older)old git.The Caterham (and no doubt others of its ilk)just seemed to be the right type of car to do it in. They were only 150bhp'ers,but I had no doubt I was having more fun than a lot of the faster but heavier tin tops, although the lack of straight line speed was frustrating.
Decisions, decisions gonna be a helluva wrench if I go through with it.
