Looking for 10l of 5w30 fully synth to service the Barge. Garage wants to charge me £62 for VW stuff, I seem to remember there was a deal on Magnatec at Asda??

Failing that, anyone know of any KF-style places doing cheap changes at the mo?

Ta! :-)

Magnatec is semi-synthetic.

Is it fully synthetic VW 504/507 spec you're after? If yes, £62 for 10 litres isn't a bad price.

With fuel cost approaching £100 a tank it seems odd to be fretting overly about the cost of an oil change!

Halfords will sell you 5 litres of Mobil 1 for just under £40 price net after their current 20% off offer.

That's expensive. Go to a Volkswagen TPS and you'll get 10 litres of Longlife 3 for around £45 retail. If you wait until the oil offer is on, £65 will get you 20 litres.

Opie Oils have all the brand names and good service and I think they have a discount for PH to bring prices to sensible level.

Alternatively, if you have an old barge which just needs something to lubricate it . . . http://stores.ebay.co.uk/LUBETECH-OIL-SUPPLIES

I hate to say it, but Halfords own brand semi synth oil is often on offer, and pretty good for a barge.

Hard to beat this deal, Costco do the oil for about the same price, but you've still got the hassle of doing the job, and before anyone leaps in, I've used National Tyres a couple of times for oil changes and they've never tried to sell me anything else or done a crap job.

That looks great. £67 including engine flush for oil/filter change and Edge oil. Will book it in if I've got any pennies left after MoT!

National Tyres do a good value oil change, Kwik Fit do as well, and I found them slightly cheaper than NT and were more fxible in their service for me. NT use Castrol and KF use Mobil oils.

Yep, if the Indy is going to charge me £67 for oil I reckon the change will end up costing nearly £100. Will get the MoT done there and wait for the oil change at National...
