DIY novice here looking for some thoughts on a drainage issue in my new home.

Moved in to a new house last week and on moving in noticed downstairs toilet filled to brim when flushing and took a long time to drain. Now dishwasher has started stopping mid cycle as does washing machine.

Had a quick look at filters etc with no obvious signs of obstructions.

Could this be a wider drainage issue?

All toilets, showers upstairs seem to drain fine?

Any input appreciated.

Filling toilet sounds like a blocked drain, yes, is it on the same soil vent pipe as the upstairs ones?

I would be opening the manholes outside and having a look.

It could just be a blockage in the toilet run of pipewok- take a mop with a plastic bag over the head and pump (ohh er) the pan a few times and see if the waste gets sucked away.

Dishwasher could just be a gunked up drain pipe, again easy to sort, check outlet pipes etc.

Thanks guys.

Im currently working away from home so unable to confirm if it comes off same soil pipe as upstairs.

Just seems coincidental that toilet, dishwasher and washing machine all having problems with drainage at same time? Although perhaps strangely the downstairs sinks all appear to be draining fine?
