help me open my e39 armrest 'hidden' compartment

The armrest has a little wallet/phone compartment on the top but I've completely forgotten how to open it.




The reward for whoever helps me open it is a share of the pack of mints that have been in there for the last two years, so form an orderly queue

its just held on with a magent (seen in the picture), so pull upwards.

The one in fromt of it has a roller-shutter effect and slides open

I thought there was another compartment in the armrest itself? As in another very slim one under the leather bit of the armrest
