Suzuki Swift Sport

I spent most of 2009 driving a silver Swift Sport, they are fantastic cars. I was considering buying one as an upgrade to my Ford Focus before I decided on an MX5.
If there was one thing I didn't like about the Swift Sport it was the keyless ignition setup, it just seemed like a waste of time. I usually left the key sitting in the door pocket or in my jacket, it wouldn't really have been much more effort just to have a normal key! But there were a lot of things I did like about it, namely the revvy engine and the superb handling. The interior is very high quality and the rock hard seats are great (although this is not a car for long motorway miles). I loved getting it out into the countryside and blasting around B roads, the exhausts roaring away behind me. And once you've got the traction control off you can be thoroughly introduced to it's old-skool hot hatch vibe, complete with lift off oversteer.
Overall, I think they're fantastic cars. In terms of bang for buck, it might be the best hot hatch around at the minute.

What do they have as standard, something like 123 or 124bhp? It feels like a lot more because they don't insulate you from the speed you generate like some cars do. They have that 'wheel at every corner' feeling that people said the new MINI's had too, such responsive steering. Another weak spot is the gear shift, it can feel a little loose and vague but once you're really working the box it feels better.

Engine - Revvy twincam affair that delivers decent low down torque for cruising yet really comes alive after 3.5k rpm. Sounds harsh but in a good way! Averaging over 36mpg with the occasional blast which I am pleased with.
Gearbox - Very notchy little box with a short throw, It's a pleasure to use.
Brakes - More than enough power with a nice solid feel, confidence inspiring.
General drive - The suspension is particularly firm but not too crashy, very little body roll and so much grip! Very good car for taller people with a huge amount of headroom.
Straight line Performance is similar to my old yaris Tsport, perhaps not as quick off the mark (the swift is over 100kg heavier) yet much better in-gear acceleration and noticeably more torque means that I am not constantly stirring the gearbox like I was in the Yaris.
