Having a few minor problems with a 3-series, it keeps coming up on the screen saying the main beam and brake lights have failed on one side of the car, but we have checked/ replaced the bulbs several times and they are definitely working! Similarly the battery light is occasionally coming on, but its a new-ish battery and the car always starts with no problems.

Any ideas what the issue is... or could it be any number of things? I'm guessing its something sensor related but thats as far as my knowledge goes hehe

Its a 2003 with 60k, full BMW SH and the same owner from new so it hasn't been messed about with or crashed

This sounds like an earthing problem so check the earthing straps/cables are secure/not corroded?

Had something similar. The connector on my rear light light cluster had eroded. Apparently this is quite common. Parts (New connector, light cluster and a couple of wires about £25) from BMW were cheaper than the breakers were quoting and came fully loaded with bulbs too.

All sorted now, turns out it was a corroded connection as suggested. £40 inc parts and labour at an independent.
