heater matrix oring seals p38

changed my antifreeze the other week as just bought car and didnt know the history. would you believe it the o ring seals on the matrix started weeping. i read up on the range rover site and it says that main dealer want 12 hours to do the job, my local dealer charges £120 an hour so very expensive. luckily p38 owners have a cheat and can do it in about 3 hours. i started mine with the expectation of at least 5 hours due to not doing it before but luckily some one has done the cheat before and one hour later job done and all at a cost of £3.80 . although these cars have certain problems like all cars its worth doing a little studying on the net to find the best way to do the job.
For the benefit of anyone else who might want to do this, would this be the shortcut you used?

that was certainly the site i used, might i ad that i assumed the pipes where solid with mounting plate but they are loose indifferent to each other just makes it a bit more fiddly.

you must have been lucky that the screw head wasn't rounded of like mine, the dash had to come out drill the screw out and replace with an allen cap screw i also got free tea, i love my wife.

I'm doing the same thing on mine - but I decided to to remove the dash as I didn't want to cut big holes or destroy all the ducting. Took about 3 hours to get the dashboard out - not that difficult to be honest.

Probably just as well as the distribution blend motor was stalling because the flaps were very stiff, which is caused by warpage of the entire heater unit. So always check how free the flaps move before blindly fitting new blend motors.
I've gone large and bought myself a Faultmate Extreme for it so I can interogate all the systems.
