Hi All

Please look the photo below. The offset for the gearbox output flange and the wheel hub seems a bit extreme, is this right?

Oh, and a couple of questions:
1. Does the black end of the drive shaft go on the gearbox side, or the wheel side?
2. Exhaust headers, can I just buy some after market LS3 headers? will they fit okay? long type or short type?

Thank you,
Gareth

My drive shafts have different diameter flanges with the larger going to the box.

From your pic I would say the engine and box need to come back quite some way. My drive shafts are almost straight but I do know this can vary with different engine and box combinations.

Can't help on the headers.

No it does not look right...

My adaptor plate was on top of the chassis bar that goes under the engine, there is a 2.5" fall in the shafts from the gearbox to the wheel but less than a inch front to back from the wheel centre....
Not sure on the drive shafts are they not different sizes ? bigger 108mm inner porsche, and smaller 100mm Ford outers....

have you a picture of your engine mount plates

thats not right the engine is way too far forward and you wont fit a water pump in between the engine and bulkhead.

1 bigger cv's are on the trans side smaller on the upright
2 no headers are not available that clear the chassis, you need to have some headers made up or use the crate units

Hi

So, ok, how the hell do I move the engine back? The mountings are from Ultima!

I must say I was a bit shocked at the front pulley to aluminium panel - about 10mm max

easily done mate...

this shows the position of my engine with the new headers fitted, if you are only 10mm from the ali you wont be able to fit a snail!!!!!

There looks to be loads of room there. when are you going to stick a F2 on there and push the LSx a bit harder Gulf?...... smile

If your using a LS Motor and the normal Old School SBC mounts then your adaptor plates between the engine and the mounts must be wrong.... Where did you get them from ?? or perhaps there on the wrong side maybe...

you are a mad man chunters!!!!

push it harder, we could run 15 psi on the current setup but to be honest i think it will be quick enough as is? I would like to keep the G50 52 in one piece as well!!
