As title says, I have connected up all the speakers for a 5.1 set up but no sound is coming from the rear 2 spkrs.
Centre, 2 front and sub are fine.

Amp is an Onyko 308 and speakers are Cambridge Minx.

Have gone through the manual --but am baffled, any suggestions?

what are you playing to hear the sound, my cinema system only uses the back speakers when a 6 channel sound recorded film is on, never on the music channels or that

My rear speakers are connected by 11m of fairly basic cable (£1 a metre stuff). For some reason, on the odd occasion I have to move things around, it can take several minutes of the receiver being turned on before the speakers start working as I'd expect.

I think most THX certified dvds have some kind of audio test option - worth trying one of those if you're certain everything is set up ok, and leaving it running for a bit? IIRC some people recommend leaving an amp / receiver on permanently so it's always at operating temperature with lower resistance, and probably other reasons I don't remember. (I still turn mine off when not in use though!)

Thanks guys,

I have now got surround to work when am playing a 5.1 disc, but when I put the tv on, it only plays throught the tv speakers and not the surround system .

I know this is probably easy to people who know about these things but any suggestions would be appreciated.

To get your TV sound through your Amp you need to connect an audio cable from the TV to the Amp then on the Amp select the input that the TV is connected to. The TV will have either a Red/White phono output or an Optical output. So for example if you connect a Red/White phono from the TV audio out to the Amp aux1 in then you would have to select Aux1 on the amp, or if you connect up an optical from the TV to the Amp opt2 in, then you would have to select Opt2 on the amp.
Hope that makes sense wink

For a non 5.1 track you can normally get sound from your rears by selecting Dolby Pro LogicII then Cinima/Disco/Stadium etc..

Seem to have got there now.
I didn't need the audio cable as both TV and amp have HDMI 1.4 with ARC.

Sound from the Tv seems quieter though than the sound from the Blue-Ray player --so have to adjust the level each time I change.
