Another question folks, prompted by my success in uploading pictures!

I was very surprised when I disconnected the main fuel feed line to the engine and found this...

The main rubber fuel line from the pump is connected to the engine by clamping over this smooth sided pipe just behind the plenum on the passenger side. Surely clamping a pressurised fuel hose over a spigot that doesn't have some sort of flared bead to retain the pipe is rather optimistic to put it mildly!!

Is this how it left the factory or am I missing some component or other? I've seen horrific tales of wedges going up in smoke on this forum and I don't want mine to be another story like that. Assuming this is how it left the factory (but I doubt that...) has anyone modified their car to correct this?

By the way it's a 1986 350i with a standard Vitesse V8 as far as I know.

That's just how mine was on my old engine and yes it did almost blow right off once, since then I've changed the engine and the fuel rail is different in that it has a captive nut behind an expanded end so no chance of it coming off,I may have another fuel rail but km not sure if I have the other half of nut connection that the fuel line fixes to unless that is available on its own.
