great day folks! big thanks to the couple at the cafe who did pretty well i think coping with a big group of us turning up. and my granny for weather updates last night and this morning! no real hairy moments and a few new people met, scotty, bruce, standfree's dad (sorry forgot your name, paul was it?)
edited to add thanks to andy (standfree) for supplying the maps.
we met up at the ploughman in culter. everyone was ready to go when matt turned up but had distressing sounding clutch issues and he ruled himself out sensibly. not a great start however off we set.

just after the balater bypass we stopped to allow a catchup.

blooming trees!
maybe not so sensible matt appeared at the meet point. pistonheaders are a special breed!

this was now on the a939 a single track road that was fairly clear and leads to the great pass road to the lecht. some great views and open roads were fun if not a little bumpy.

roads were fine whats there to worry about!

ok so theres a bit at the sides itl be fine

hmmm this could be interesting

ok, 4wd, traction control, abs and esp
are things i dont have

the lecht

this was only for a mile or two as soon as we were down the other side the snow cleared.

while "SOMEONE" decided they needed the toilet (10 minutes from the official stopping place) i left to get ahead and get some shots on the move. and to take the decent at 5mph!!

scottys ibeza

bloody m3s are too quick for camera's!

matts lovely (and ill) sounding ferrari, he kindly gave a huge rev as he passed. il assume you got home ok

ians elise

mr walkers grannys corsa... trying to splash me???

lovely 635 m6

mark rsi's mr2

nothing like synchronized parking.. hang on a minute blooming bmw at the back!!
onto the old firestation in tomintoul where we had a great lunch break. broccoli and stilton soup was lovely and the egg and bacon rolls went down well.

perfect parking

highlights
never got a photo but there was a little old lady walking on the road with a walking stick in each hand on the road from dufftown to huntly. she must have shat a brick as we all came flying round the corner
matts flyby in the ferrari just sounded amazing!
grahams doughnuts at the lecht, (classy)
and one person on the run even managed mid 40s for their mpg!!
fog, rain, wind snow or sun -
pistonheaders allow nothing to stop a winter scotland run!

Cheers for good day guys
Weather was pants but decent turn out and nice cars.
I was in my M3 with AGAR as the passenger. He's still at mine but he'll post his pics later.
Best bit was following Matt's 360. WOW! It's mental loud! Doesn't help my 'I need a Ferrari' syndrome!
Loved the RS6 offroad adventure!

It was on a blind left hander too (with her on the left side of the road) - I got round ok but then passed an oncoming car as I exited the corner and thought "This isn't going to end well...!"

Would that someone be me? but i wasn't the only one who made a dash for the toilet when we stopped! The RS6 kept itself occupied whilst everyone was feeling chilly! Spotted it when i attempted driving across the Lecht car park (Toyo T1r's are hopeless tyres in the snow) almost got stuck, looked up and there's an RS6 doing donuts! It was a brilliant sight!
It was good meeting everyone, brilliant day's driving and hopefully more runs to follow soon??

only managed to get a few photos, here's some of the better ones,

You can just spot the Noble and Bora in this one if you look closely along the road!

Noticed a few of your photos of the Lecht road have my Ibiza in them Slipstream! haha! My wee car doesn't look too bad in some of them! I like all the photos of everyone driving past the camera, when i saw you stopped i was going to pull in but then i noticed the camera and tried to speed up again!
Great day out, even with the rain and the potholes!

just thought I'd take a look as I'm delivering a car up that way in a couple of weeks...I didn't realise you still had snow on the ground
Don't think we did either!

Shall hopefully be on next run. Think head gaskets gone on ZR, worrying temperatures being reached and lots of smoke.
What is it with Scottish PHers, drives and snow?!
This was my first PH drive a couple of years ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a11y_m/sets/721576218... - looks like similar conditions!
