Just 6 inches....

The difference between getting the car of my dreams into the garage....

Or not, as would appear to be the case.

So, no shiny Mercedes Benz R107 and no open top summer wafting for me.

weeping

There is only one thing for it...

I am going to have to move house...

grumpy

Thank goodness I decided to check....after test driving the car and falling in love with it yesterday.

Is there not room to pull that garage door frame back that amount?

That's a shame but at least you've checked. Nothing worse than buying a wide car only to discover that driveway is too narrow!

Expand a garage : maybe £5k?
Move house : £50k upwards
(if you move house you *know* you'll end up buying somewhere bigger, bigger garage obviously, another bedroom, nicer area... always happens smile )

I know what I'd do!

Nope, the problem is the beer fridge, freezer and tumble dryer take up too much room at the back of the garage.

So, its either beer or car. I am not equipped to make such an massive decision.

Big shed in the garden and put all that stuff in it instead?

Bin the tumble drier, buy a bigger kitchen fridge for your beer, and put the washing machine in the bloody kitchen like everyone else! wink

Problem solved.
Now you need a new tv to go in you room, and a Lazyboy chair!

Or stick the tumble dryer and mini fridge under stairs. You can always make space under the stairs.

Ah, I kind of had the same problem.

Solution for me was a new £15k kitchen with fitted everything giving me enough freezer space to bin the big chest freezer and move the tumble dryer back into the utility room.

Sorted smile

The car now just fits in with about 1" of space at the end.

Build some ramps which go almost to the eaves of the far end of the garage from the ground at the front, a winch may be useful. Et voila - due to Pythagoras' theorem the Merc should now fit, and there is room for you appliances underneath.

Use 'no more nails' to fix the aforementioned white good to the wall just above where the bonnet would be...

Drink driving doesn't work, so put the beer fridge in the living room where it's legal.

- I'd be putting that forward as my arquement anyway!

Genius! I like that.

I already have a big shed, so that option isn't really open to me. Reckon I might have a more detailed look at the garage tomorrow. I am sure a solution could be arrived at. Bloody pissy small modern garages. Not the sort of car I would want to keep outside (not that there would be space on the drive anyway).

Having said that, if I buy a house with a double garage, then that opens up possibilities in terms of looking at something that could be parked next to the Mercedes.
