On my CLS the electronic bootlid opens as it should beut refuses to close (despite making "the right" noises). Closing it manually needs overcoming a big restance and does not feel healthy
I could not find any visible abstacles in the door or locking mechanism...
Has anybody here had similar
Do I make it worse by closing it manually (no time to ge to the garage at the mo) apart from the certainly £££ required at your friendly local benz dealership...

The system may need electronic reset and intializing, this can only be done with the star tester, there are 'open and shut' end travel sensors that know when to stop the movement. If one is out of sync, the system can go into fail safe mode. By closing the system manualy you will not damage the system as it is designed to be overidden manually.

Thank you - very good advice- had it in garage in meantime - say in principle the same but will need the car for a while to reset the sensors- if not possible may need new motor...
