I think I have a zetec 2L black top engine with a silvertop head.

The rocker cover is polished silver. The block is a black top.
The ports have been opened up to the manifold & a blacktop inlet manifold used. However the inlet manifold is cast to mate with the small silvertop head.

The timing belt is from an Alfa.
The head gasket is thin.

Have I got a silvertop on a blacktop?
Have I a blacktop with a silver rocker cover?
Does the inlet manifold aperture matter that its a lot smaller than the head apertures?
Why the Alfa timing belt, is it due to a ST170 head gasket (if thats what Iv got)?

Might just fit it and see.

Does it have hydraulic cam followers ? If so it's a blacktop head. The cam covers are interchangeable (as long as you use the appropriate gasket and fixing screws).

Silvertops were hydrualic, black tops were shimmed. silvertops have the water pump off the cambelt, black tops have the water pump on the auxilary belt. Pistons and stroke were also different and I do not believe the heads are interchangeable. Seems someone has gone to a lot of bother for boltings bits together. I think the St170 head gasket is the same as a standard black top being MLS.If I remember right LOL
