European Pigeon Crash Test pass by 15 year old TVR
Discussion
Well, the 450 successfully passed the stringent european pigeon in to windscreen at 70mph on M10/M1 junction this morning. A bit of windscreen wash later and no one would ever know that something had happened (except perhaps the pigeon who didn't look too healthy as it landed behind me in front of a lorry following me).
Before anyone has a go at me, I do love animals but the loss of a pigeon somehow doesn't upset me....)

Grr, flying rats if you ask me...
absolutely, they carry more disease than rats + their shit doesnt do your paintwork any good.
I think you have done society a favour and perhaps more people will follow your good example.
Perhaps we could have the number of pigeons killed painted on the side of our cars in WW2 fighter pilot stylee.

I think HAD is the key word there

What, again? Just off to find the air-rifle.

I hope he enjoys the cost of a full respray and new hood.
A respray would be handy. No doubt I'll be able to claim on my specialist Lloyds syndicate insurance under 'acts of pigeon' clause.
Dear Homer Fantail,
While we feel deeply for you recent loss, it strikes us that a bird who cannot hear and see a TVR coming along the motorway at full chat is probably better off out of your gene pool.
We see this as due recompense for your species depositing what is left of your most recent meal over our meticulously polished paintwork and also the dare-devil games you insist on playing while we innocently drive at law abiding speeds along the public highway. Namely sitting on a fence and waiting until we are almost level before diving off and trying to scoot across the road in front of us.
Yours,
The General Public of the United Kingdom.

Dear Sir
I wish to protest in the strongest possible manner at the callous remarks made by Mr Cirks on the killing of a fellow pigeon by his reckless driving at 70mph!
As a pigeon myself, and current President of the, Be Kind To Feral Pigeons Society, I am not only revolted by his actions, but also scandalised by his subsequent dismissal of the death of a fellow flyer, as an act over which he feels no emotion. We are not roadkill, to be used at his pleasure, measuring the dubious safety strength of his TVR windshield. Nor are we to be mocked when, stunned, we are then thrown under the wheels of a following bigrig. Who does he think he is? John Travolta in a Tarantino movie, where characters are killed three times before they die?!
That pigeon had a family, a future, a life.
We have Mr Cirks registration number. Our low flying task force are seeking out his vehicle as I write. I hope he enjoys the cost of a full respray and new hood.
Yours, outraged.
Homer Fantail
(President)
I wonder if the poorly deceased Pidgeon left me his air miles in his will
Glad you car survived OK Cirks... lucky it never got sucked into that engine of yours .. I've heard that when you start it up the moon moves closer to the earth by a couple of inches

Dear sir,
As a cat I read with delight the tale you write of hitting the flying vermin at such speed. But imagine my further joy when hearing about the lorry following you to finish it off!
I can but dream of using such methods and in the mean time will continue to use my own tools of the trade to drag half carcases and small broadbean shaped things into DustyC's kitchen for him to find/tread on in the mornings. He simply loves these little presents, I can tell by his jumping for joy and shriek of suprise and delight.
May your hunting continue for all nine lives.
Regards,
Indy and Wookie.

We had a nasty experience with a pigeon that has mentally scarred me for life....
A couple of years ago we had bought a brand new Nissan Tino MPV
We had only had it about a week when my wife returned from a shopping trip and proclaimed that she had 'hit a bird on the way home, but it had flown away'....well, I was on nights and went to set off to work about 6 hours later....proud of our new car, I went to do a cursory 'damage check' only to find a pigeon lodged next to the radiator....thinking it was dead I went to get some gloves to pull it out when I heard a shriek from my 8 year old daughter "Daddy....it winked at me!!!!!".....oh $hit!!!
Me being the brave person I am (squeamish), I drove the car to work to enlist the help of my work mates......one dis-mantled MPV later, we had retrieved the bloody bird which had to be 'put out of it's misery' because of a broken wing....
the moral of the story is.....All pigeons should be killed because I now have a re-occurring dream about winking pigeons and blood stained hammers

Hammer?!!! to dispatch a little pigeon?!!! Just grab the body in one hand, the head in the other, twist 90 degrees and pull sharply. Result: dead pigeon.
N.B. don't pull to hard or the head comes off and it's very messy. It still dies though.
right, fire extinguisher...check!... flameproof overalls... check!....nomex underwear...check! o.k. i'm ready!!!!!
As a dog, Dusty Cs remarks make me pass worms in disgust. I've never caught a pigeon, no matter how many times I try to rush large groups of the little blighters. To think that a weedy little ratbag of a cat can get hold of one makes me question my own species to the core. I am wondering how I go about becoming a cat. I have been on a TCFL (Teaching cat as a Foreign Language)course and have had my snout shortened. Will this do? Do I need a cat basket and a formal offer of employment?
Woof.
Woof.
Can I just say how disgusted I am at the callous way in which you talk about taking a pigeons life and leaving the poor thing to be squashed by the car behind. Have none of you tried pigeon in a cream and red wine sauce and have none of you seen the price of pigeon in Sainsburys? Personally I prefer to wait until they have landed then use the front air scoop to provide the stun without damaging the body then using the time honoured method described above - quick twist and a pull. Quickly home for a quick pluck and disembowelling and straight into the deep freeze. Then sit back and wait for that serene moment when the kids have all gone out and you can fully appreciate your hard won spoils.

Much better to just slice the breast meat off at the side of the road and discard the rest. Try and hit a flock of the bu66ers and get a decent size meal.

Being a Brown Bear I was overjoyed to read Walsinghams post on the inadiquacies of dog-kind, & his longing to be a cat.
Having been on the recieving end of various 'bear baiting' events during which I was savaged by some of his kanine bretheren, the thought of a dog wishing it was born as a cat, clearly a more intelligent creature, fills my heart with joy.
Right, Im off to catch me a salmon.

someone I worked with once picked up a Vauxhall Corsa for his wife. Driving it home for the first time, he hit a pheasant which came through the window, into the back seat and exploded with blood everywhere.
He called the tow truck and shipped the whole car back the VX dealer to be given a new one on the spot. I can't imagine why

I think it's the current food hygene laws: there would have been a possibility of glass contamination in the pheasant, that's why they wouldn't risk it and gave him a new one. Amazed they had a pheasant in stock at such short notice though... usually have to wait for weeks!
