now then guys,

just after a bit of advice on remaps............

my dads recently got rid of his RRS 2.7tdv6 and got the new 3.0tdv6.

the 3.0 is years ahead of the old 2.7!

with the power/tourque/fuel gains offered these days hes after a remap.

which company do you guys use/recommend? he'd rather have realiablity than chasing figures.

is the map much more noticable? and can the gearbox be mapped?

any advice would be great!

cheers

Having recently purchased a MY11 Disco 4 with the 3.0 V6, I've been looking myself. Over on the Disco 4 forum, these guys are 'Site Sponsors':

http://www.bell-auto-services.co.uk/

They claim a remap to the 285bhp / approx 700Nm (516lb/ft).

but if its years ahead of the 2.7 why get it remaped?

we have a 2.7 D3 and drove a D4 and agree its much better but I hadnt thought there was a need to get a new D4 remaped v the disadvantages. why the need to do so?

why not?

ive had my ls1 mapped, i get better fuel economy, power and tourque. also the car DRIVES MUCH BETTER.

for some of the gains offered you can have near tdv8 power without having to buy a tdv8. (but lets not get into that)

modern turbo diesels can offer so much with there conservative maps.

im just asking for advice to see who is regarded as the best tuner.

just curious as to the benefits. Does it affect any LR warrenty? - Ive had a modded TD5 G4 defender but that was well outside any warrenty.

i can allmost certainly say it would effect warranty, if anything goes wrong with the the powertrain im sure LR would blame the map, even if it wasnt directly linked to the map. they will do anything to get out of paying.

i think the handheld unit would be better, so you could flash the ecu with the old map before it goes in to the stealers.

Check the torque limits of the gear box. I think I read somewhere that 600nm was a safe limit to ensure reliability???

Some dealers will provide 'approved' remaps which wont effect the warranty no doubt the price will be at least double what anyone else would charge but thats the price you pay to keep the warranty.

Witht the handheld unit although you can flash back to standard the dealer can still see that the ecu has been flashed, it doesnt take much to work pout why wink

Not sure if it is the same. I think I read about the torque limit in connection with jag xf which I presumed had same running gear as disco. My assumption may be incorrect? The jag guys were upping the bhp of xf but not the torque of the 's'. This all based on forums so information may not be correct...

Just change things such as the Intercooler for a bigger one,it will make a big difference and change the position of it plus other bits.
