Read on an ad that there may be a new defender being designed? Any news on this?

Expect to see the end of the ladder chassis and a Freeloader style monocoque shell with indy suspension.

I was invited to a one of those customer clinics for a new Defender at the NEC in about 2002 (you know, full-size clays, etc)!! I thought it looked great. Think of a Defender with modern design cues similar to the current Disco.

I was always surprised they didn't launch it a couple of years after. Probably a lack of £££ as they were going through their multiple changes of ownership at the time.

Better get my final spec decided then before they can the old one. Although at least a new model on the horizon might mean ammunition for a bit of a discount.

The world has moved on somewhat since 2002! Think coil-sprung D3 with Defender-esque 'styling' Like it or lump it that's what's coming. That's not to say the old Defender won't be made somewhere, though wink Until it becomes totally illegal to sell them some small manufacturers will keep the faith. nudge nudge, say no more, know what I mean?! thumbup

If I had a pound for everyone who's told me a new Defender is on the way in the last twenty years, I'd have enough money to buy one.

Expect the new Defender to be very watered down and much "softer."

Who know, our Defenders might hold their value even better!

Don't expect the new Defender.

The whole range has now been classified as commercial making compliance much easier and road tax cheaper.
