Mrs Screwloose is off back to Birmingham to spend the day with her mother and wants to take her to the best afternoon tea (finger sandwiches, cakes, the works) and I'm after recommendations for her.

thanks in advance.

If you want traditional then go to Hudsons Tea House:

Or something more hip try the Urban Coffee Co.

Both within 2 mins walk of the Cathedral right in the city centre. My vote is with the latter.

You could try some of the nicer hotels

Malmaison (Mailbox)

Midland Hotel (on New St)

I dunno, if they offer what you are after, but a quick call should sort it

There is this Cha Cha Cha in the city centre but I reckon a hotel would be a nicer place to spend an afternoon.
