Morning All

After another fairly dismal winter I need to get my finger out on replacing my steel frame windows with aluminium double glazed ones.

I've upgraded a few to date but I wasn't too impressed with the supplier (poor measurements, lead patterns the wrong way round etc). So, I'd really appreciate if anyone could recommend a supplier, ideally someone who can fit as well.

I'm just inside the M25, south of Croydon.

Thanks in advance.

This supplier wasn't by chance Alucraft in Essex?

I need to find a similar installer to correct the poor windows ande poor fitting that Alucraft did.

I'm in Coulsdon so I can let you know my findings.

Hi mk1...it was a company in surrey but not Alucraft. They were called Jenny something I think but can't quite recall.

Would be great to hear your findings.

Do these aluminiun windows you're investigating have a thermal break?

Obviously a double glazed unit is better than single glaze, but aluminium frames without a thermal break are as bad as steel ones - the only advantage they have is a very long life.

I had £30k worth of aluminium double glazing installed last year to replace my ancient and freezing Crittalls.

I am happy to recommend The Heritage Window Company. They have a couple of showrooms to the South of London.

Thing is, I'm planning on doing the house in dribs and drabs, couple of windows at a time.

I can see why you'd travel down for a big bucks job but maybe not for a couple of windows? Also, measuring up, support if something had to be rectified etc??

I’m in Bristol and presently seeking prices for suitable alternative double glazed windows to 48 no. single glazed Crittall windows. I have located this company that supplies the extrusion material, that through their web site search facilities, one can locate both manufacturers and installers in their area,

Well that's handy. Being the other side of the planet and all. How much do you charge for a measure up?
