Resin to reinforce plastic corner flags

This is quite an odd request...

My football club has purchased a set of corner flags that come in 2 pieces, with a female plastic fitting on the lower part and a male plastic fitting on the upper part.

The problem is these fittings are pretty fragile and one has snapped already. My idea is to fill the insides of the plastic connecting fittings with some kind of resin to strengthen them.

However the question is, what resin to use? I'd imagine about 0.5 - 1 litre would be needed so it needs to be reasonably cheap.

Something with the consistency of hot glue would be ideal I'd imagine.

As a blind stab - get some suitably sized fibre glass / carbon rods (widely available at google) and fix in with fibre glass resin.

Think of resin as glue, excess amount is a waste. In fibreglass work you only need sufficient to wet all the fibres. It is the fibre that provides the strength, not the resin.

It will need to be poured in, rather than laid up. Essentially I want to make the connecting parts solid rather than hollow.

Well I refer the honourable Sir back to my previous answer - the rods already have the fibre-reinforcement, so pick some of a similar diameter and stick in with a bit of resin!

The trouble is they'd need to be slightly tapered to fit properly inside I think.
