McLaren have just released the "official" figures for the MP4-12C.

A snippet here,

the 12C's performance figures are breathtaking. It will accelerate to 60mph in three seconds dead when fitted with the optional Corsa tyres; 0-100kph is dealt with in 3.1 seconds, or 3.3 seconds on standard tyres. 200kph comes up in 8.9 seconds, or 9.1 seconds on standard tyres. That's faster even than McLaren's seminal F1 road car, a car that redefined fast in 1993 and cost at least £540,000. Top speed is 330kph, or 205mph. Aided by the Airbrake, the 12C stops as hard as it goes, decelerating from 100kph to standstill in just 30.5m, or less than seven car lengths.

So they're actually saying it's quicker on Corsa tyres by a whisker than the Noble M600 to 120MPH!!!

Not bad at all!

Wouldn't call that a wisker.

Noble Autocar test was 0-120mph in 8.9. 120mph is 193kmph. On a "head to head" Top Gear style you'd notice the gap. Quarter mile is 10.9 (Noble M600 11) and 62-0 is just 100 feet (no figure I can find for M600).

I expect the rest of the figures will similary astound. With in-corner grip cited at being 35% more than "the best traditional suspension" I'd expect this to well outperform a M600.

The reviews seem to back up my choice. Can't wait to get my hand on one.

To be fair I suspect the figures on the Noble site are for the "Blue car" and not the "Production" version, which is apparently lighter.
Still, I wouldn't be too surprised if the McLaren is quicker around most tracks.

The MP4-12C will probably be faster than most things. However that'll not stop it looking dull. I gave up my place on the list long ago.

There isn't one. One of those threads I linked to should do for now.

1/4 mile in 10.9 secs is pretty impressive

there can't be many production cars that can achieve that

is the m600 an 11 sec 1/4 mile ?

According to Autocar it is
http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/RoadTestsOnThe...

And Noble must be happy with those figures as they cite that road test in their official M600 brochure.

I've seen lots of claimed time not be real, however I know someone who did a huge amount of testing on the Mclearen and he was very confident it would be faster.

The real test will be same day same conditions.

Remember the Mclearen F1 was 11.4 seconds down quarter mile... LM was claimed as 11.1..... enzo is 11.1.

both are mighty fast for under 200k when comparable performance is significantly more... for me I really dont like the look of the Maca and Id have the ferrari over it all day long just because it looks so much better.

so its 10.9 vs 11.0 for the M600

pretty sure the newer lighter car will be quicker

can't wait till we see them again on top gear

the Noble is already lighter than the Mclaren by a long way (claimed).
So if the Mclaren is quicker it must be down to the way it produces its (lower) power and how it transfers it to the tarmac.
I'd like to see the power / torque curves for both cars next to each other.

Quite a bit will be down to the 'dual clutch' type gearbox on the McLaren.

Which just goes to show the brute force approach doesn't always seem to work.

Exactly, but figures are far from everything.

Gnats whisker between them, i would not be suprised if the new lighter M600 just has the edge though, but like Andy i would not choose either, instead it would be the 458, now wheres my lottery ticket.

Justin, have you got a deposit down on the Mclaren? If you have then that is sweet, very very nice car m8, looks like a top notch piece of kit.

At the end of the day there is hardly anything between these modern day supercars, lap times are within seconds of each other, which would matter, but .... who is ever going to track these top of range cars, (apart from maybe as a one off), or... who is ever going to even reach the cars limit of grip on a road? they are all fast, you press the pedal and it is going to feel like you are being shot out of a cannon, when it comes to this top end range of cars, styling is the main thing that really divides them.

Nobody wants to get stomped on with acceleration by another car, but as a scenario, by a million to one chance a M600 pulls up beside you while you are in your 458, and after a short blast somebody gets ahead by one cars length, i think they would both get a nod of acknowledgment, although if it was me who got ahead i would be giving the other driver an L shaped "losers" sign in fun, but that is probably why i will never own one. Anyway if it only performance we are interested in then why not just spend 20k on mods for the M400 and get it to stomp all over them all with 700bhp, simple answer is " its not just about performance"
