944 Alarm Problem/Grinding Brakes
Discussion
Hi, into the 3rd day of 944 ownership now and all help is much appreciated!
I have a problem with the alarm going off at night for no reason, it is the standard one that isn't remote but just operates off the key, is there a way of locking the car without setting the alarm till I get it sorted, tried part turning the key etc?
Secondly, I know that the pads have loads of wear as I had all tyres replaced yesterday and checked them, but this morning I'm getting grinding at very low speeds when using the brakes (between 30mph and standstill). Not really bad but if I didn't know the pads had life left in them I would assume they are worn. High speed braking is silent and at all speeds even when grinding they operate fine. The car have only done 400 miles since December 2004 and I have now put on another 300 miles in 3 days, perhaps it just needs using a bit more, certainly the engine is losening up. Any ideas?
Thanks
Simon

The only time I really noticed grinding from the pads on my S2 was after a hard session on track. Once I completed about 30 miles normal road use, it always went away.
I have experienced grinding on other cars at slow speeds, i.e 10mph to stop – normally meant the discs were cracked (small hairline cracks).
