Years ago iirc my tax code was changed to reflect professional costs which were tax deductable.
I'd sort of presumed this would carry on each year once arranged.
I don't think it's happened for several years.
So, is this still how tax deductable expenses are handled by HMRC or do I now need to incorporate these on a SAT form?
Can I reclaim for lost years deductions?

You can go back six years. As an employee, the subscription is only allowable if it was incurred "wholly, exclusively and NECESSARILLY for the purpose of the employment".
We are currently in tax year 2010/11. You should be able to claim for 2004/05, 05/06, 06/07, 07/08, 08/09 and 09/10.
Next year, the back claim period is being reduced to 4 years so get your claims in NOW.
