Well, what do i go for.
Another Wedge - Sold my 390SE - stupidly.. Missing it now
Or an "S"
A "Chim"
(above are all in my budget of £????.00) Grifs etc are out of my reach.

Whats all your thoughts. The Wedge was a good old car, not much went wrong with it in the time i had it, pretty straight forward to work on. Looked and sounded ACE!
Is an "S" OK -
What about the Chimaera, is it ok.. Her indoors prefers them.. What horror stories can you share, are they OK to run and own.. Are they more troublesome than my old Wedge to run/own. I'm mainly talking about electrics, as the hardly V8 if looked after is a good un.!!

I've got my eye on a few just now. I've just advertised my old Land Rover to make way for the new toy for the summer.. I'm not allowed to buy anything until the Landie goes (we'll see)

same problem, looking for a bit of v8 summer fun but not sure what to go for, lots going through my mind, ie revisiting old cars i have had years ago,or sticking with a v8 tvr,don't know much about the wedge cars, but looking at 390se or 400se or a good 350i,around the 4k mark, is this too little to by a reasonable one,amazed at what is avialable for this money, lotus elan se turbo, mazda rx7 (old style),porker 944, cheap 928, 840i bmw,mr2 turbo or are they all trouble at that money! my gut is saying i would miss the precat v8 rumble of a tiv, any thoughts.

ps simon, your old 390 looks amazing in black, and sorry for the thread hijack, just thought it would save me starting a samy type thread.

I would say a Chim Had mine for 3 years took it over 3000 miles round Europe and it has the looks the sound and grunt, Pretty basic and easy cars to look after too, Sure they have niggles but over pretty good cars.

I have had 2 Griffs, 2 Cerbs and a Wedge. I guess I am rather spoilt at the moment as I have a 4.5 Cerb and a 450SE.

I have said on other threads that although the Cerbera is absolutely phenomenal to drive and every journey is an event, in the few months I have been driving the Wedge is has surpassed all my expectations. It is on a par with the Cerb for driving pleasure- it is pretty archaic in the handling department and the looks aren't to everyone's taste, but I love it- and the noise is something else- far louder than my 5 litre Griffs. I would say that value for money- a good Wedge is the way forward.

Id definitely go chim... Just be sure to check the out riggers. Extremely solid and reliable car and everything is readily available still.

You know, i like the S, i used to work on one as a Lad in the local Ford delaership, i like the retro front end. I little MG-ish.. I've had a couple of MGB's and i like the rounded wings leading to the headlights.

But me and Mrs B think that the Chim would be progression for us and there are a few out there now at sensible money.. Thankfully those individuals dont seem to think there is Gold stashed away in the backbone chassis.... We are just looking for a nice, honest, well looked after and noisey V8 (if S, V6) that isn't going to be a money pit..

Yup, we have considered other things... MGB V8's, Z3's, Porker 944's, MX5's >(very reliable and cheap and fun, although not fast).... But i keep coming back to the pictures of cars i had on my bedroom wall as a Kid... The Wedge, S - Later on Chims and Grifs... Astons and Porker 911's are out my range, for now !!!

For the time being, i'm going to have to take her 350z out and drive it fast for thrills, the Landie Diesel is a different kind of thrill.. It always puts a smile on my face because it's slow, smelly, basic (but has delux seat coverings) and everything our other cars aren't... I mean this morning, doors iced closed, got in eventually and scraped the outside of the windows then had to do the inside of them.. I mean, no newer car has you do that.

I'll keep looking...
