What we are doing is till thinking it's a good idea to let schools fill kids head full of their parents religion where most of it isn't subject to any checks and that a 5 year old will understand all religions.
Just the same as teaching kids values and life skills, religion also knows you got to get them early to make sure their heads are full of crap.
The fact that faith schools are growing is a worrying thing.

Interesting point the lady mp made that we wouldn't tolerate the cruelty we saw with White children. Political correctness = you do what you want, we'll turn a blind eye because it's racist to enforce our laws on your culture.
Nothing new in the film, but I was genuinely shocked the teachers were brainwashing those kids in a uk school, rather than a Pakistani or Saudi school. I think we have only seen the beginnings of our problems if those schools were in any way representative of what is going on in the wider Muslim community in the uk and elsewhere.

Anyone got a link to an online version that, no doubt, will depress me?

It hasn't exactly been a secret that, for some time, our immigration and multiculturalist policy wasn't a great idea...

the problem with islamic schools is that they are very hard to be moderated.

you dont have a syllabus like state schools do

as alot of them are private they feel they can teach what they want

and alot of them dont give a balanced view of the world

the same is for all faith schools - my family wanted me to send my daughters when they're a lil older to one and i was like hell no. course i'm the heretic of the family so they werent too surprised.

some islamic schools are fairly middle down the road but i worry about others and increasingly alot more are popping up

not moderated and not checked.

IMO all single faith schools should be banned and follow a standardised approach which includes teaching the rudiments of comparative religion.

After that people can choose whether they want,
a) an old book written for God
b) an old book written by God
c) to get by with some common sense.

The whole beating thing bought back memories... lol

It's all part of growing up! Boys will be boys so fighting when the Mullah is not around is standard. Damn i remember one guy called Shakeel. I had planned to put his head through his dads Bluebird ZX Turbo. We finished mosque i followed him out and just as i was going to go for a jaw shot my lil sister came in the way and told me not to do fighting whilst she is around. Damn her! I still regret not giving him a kicking when i had the chance.

The amount of fights you'd get into at the mosque with other kids was surreal. The mosques and our parents failed us to an extend we could read Arabic but not understand it. So therefore we learn nothing about religion until 11/9 and after. Hence why there was so much prating about at mosque.

I remember once playing naughts and crosses with my buddy whilst pretending to read the Quran. The allocated monitor type prefect grassed up both of us to Mullah. Mullah immediately got up and grabbed a wood cane. The whole class went silent as everyone was curious as to who is going to get the cane. Mullah walked right past me and buddy and then done a 'U' turn and battered us silly biggrin It was all part and parcel of the mosque back then. Go there for a laugh with the lads all whilst trying to dodge the Mullah.

I never saw it as abuse though. My brother wears hearing aids. It is wise not to call him deaf! One Mullah had to call him deaf though and even slapped him on his hearing aid. This got my brother really angry which resulted in Mullah getting battered by my brother. It was really funny as nobody stopped the fight. Then Mullah had to explain himself to my old man.

Going to mosque 30 years ago -the biggest danger was getting your trainers nicked!
Even though at the time the community was aware of the strictness at mosques - and bear in mind there was zero suspicion/monitoring from external bodies - i never got hit or saw any ill treatment to the level as shown in Dispatches. It was a bit like being in Detention at school.
And no, we weren't taught the the West and non believers were evil- it was simply a philosophy of using religion to live a good honest life of virtue and all that.
Btw iirc Dispatches did show moderate muslim schools and scholars who condemned the practices -seems to have been forgotten here

that moderate muslim school is how it should be.

hopefully this programme will kick local authorities into making sure that all faith schools toe the line.

The inspector made me laugh.

What the hell did he inspect? all he did was ask a few questions. When he was told by one of then there is no punishment just a few taps he accepted it and passed the place with flying colours.

Then when showed the secret filming said "oh thats not what I imagined" Imagined? is that how inspectors work these days imagine fluffy clouds and raindrop smiles and sign on the dotted?

Thorough job there. I wonder how much he was on before he retired.

TBH, Catholic schools are very tough academically. As to religion, they may push anti-abortion, etc. They at no time advocate hate, oppression of women, and segregation from non Muslims due to their inferiority. That would not be tolerated for a minute. I am not Catholic, but I grew up and live near several. I am of course comparing them with the extreme Muslim schools being mentioned, not the middle of the road moderate ones.

Slightly off topic but a line in this programme was 'Training the next generation of imams and community leaders' or something similar. What exactly is a community leader? It's something I hear mentioned often in the media and have no idea what it is.

Isn't it up to the inspectors and councils to make sure these schools are moderated and fall in line with British teaching standards?

I know what an Imam is - they lead prayers in mosques.

No idea what a community leader is - sounds like a made up title to me. What do they do?

They are the old bearded ones who can speak English and seem to take it upon themselves to speak about 'community' issues because apparently we are a massive community who know everything about each other and we as the 'community' are all united in faith. The fact it is all bullst does not matter, as long as they fit the media profile the rest is fine.
