Going to work this morning I spotted an accident on the other carrige way. As I got closer I realised that a car transporter was on its side. Land Rovers and Range Rovers all over the place. Somones going to have an even longer wait for their new car in March.

I have taken the call when one of ours went over, stressful is not the word!
That's just up the road from our depot so had drivers asking if it was ours.
Thankfully not.

Miracle nobody was killed.

Yeah looked a mess when I drove past. Can imagine it being a complete nightmare for all involved when a truck tips.

I spotted it this morning as well. Looked very nasty but no serious injuries I don't think! Took about 8 hours to clear.

The transporter appears to have ran into the back of another truck, which was broken down on the hard shoulder. I suspect the transporter driver was asleep or on his phone?

That's probably about £100k of land rovers wrote off. Imagine having to explain that to your boss...

Clarkmagpie - Do you work for ECM?

Ermm, there was a lorry load of them. I think you've underestimated a tad.

7 to be precise rolleyes

7 x the price of a range rover.

How much is it then, clever cloggs?

Say £70k per range rover then £490,000.

Tad over your price. tongue out

As mentioned above, I'm not entirely certain it costs LR £70k to build one Range Rover. Quite a poor business model if it does, no?

I worked at land rover Solihull for 11 years. Just before I left I was told that a range rover rolled off the end of the production line at a total cost price of 16k.

So your suggesting that it costs Landrover only £14.2k roughly to make a range rover? Quite a mark up...
£490k could be dealer price, personally I would go for £35-45k to build as the 4.4 tdv8 and 8 speed gearbox could easily be £7-10k

As I said, it was a very well informed production manager that told me that figure, range rover was the big money maker.
