Either the Syvecs management system

Or

CR box and 3.91 diff?

Ideally i'd like both but funds wont allow this, so which should I go for?

If i'm honest i'm not sure what the difference is. Isn't the Syvecs still in development and comes with TC which i'm not bothered about having.

There is a thread about this in the S6 section which i'm keeping my eye on...

Personally the CR box and diff, and then upgrade the ECU with an engine rebuild.

change the rear diff then do the box if you think you need to. I had a 3.7 in mine when I had a S6 and thought it was a major move forward. I have a Omex in mine now and think it is excellent.

IMHO the 3:91 diff is not the one to have. The 3:73 is far better for longer tracks/ straights and road use. Unless your driving on short twisty tracks then stay away. Motorways become too much revs and diff shunt is a lot more noticeable. Its up to you of course, but having tried all three including the standard taller diff I ensure all my cars always had the 3:73 even if I have to stick a new one in.
Only my opinion, but your welcome to my experience.

Thanks, always handy to hear other peoples experiences.

I'm still a little confused / naive with this whole close ratio gearbox and diff settings thing.

Can you change one without the other? In my mind changing the standard gear ratio's for shorter ones will increase acceleration but top end will suffer. However when it comes to the differentials I'm lost.

For arguements sake what would happen if had the CR box but the standard diff?

Sorry guys I'm a numpty.

I think of the Diff as changing the range of the roadspeed against RPM - but the gearbox as changing the adjustment within that range.

If that makes sense?

I thought he gearbox was faster changing, and the diff is revs/roadspeed?

But I'm normally wrong.

you need to try em all before you decide, what suits someone else might not suit you, are you going to keep the engine a 3.6?, do you enjoy trackdays? if so what kind of tracks.

I'm very lucky i have a very quick Griffith 500 that can stay with anything on track upto 100/120mph so for tight tracks I use that, what I love about my Sagaris is that it is ballistic above 100mph and pulls like fk to 160mph.

That's why i'm happy with the diff I have in mine,

I'd only upgrade the engine if the current one went to engine heaven, seeing as it was re-built by power less than 5k mikes ago, I don't see (touch wood) that happening anytime soon.

As for driving different gearing/diff set-ups. How would you suggest I do that?

I haven't done any track days but do plan to in the future as well as driver tuition / skid plans.

You would find the car very sluggish in gears 1 to 3.

You could do the upgrades in 2 stages, diff then gearbox. I find my standard gearbox and 3.91 just fine.

What's diff shunt? Do you mean drivetrain shunt? This is much less with the higher ratio diff than the std one. I can drive at 50mph in 5th and 25 mph in 4th now, no way could I have with the standard diff ratio.

Must be a few guys near you with different set up that could give you a pax, if you're going to do track days i'd spend the money on track instruction first, that will make you a lot quicker/safer than diff/engine upgrades.

Then I would buy upgraded dampers/springs/brake pads/fluid then tyres R888 etc, and leave engine upgrades to last.

I found taking weight out of the car gives far more performance than power upgrades as well.

That's the set up I have (CR box and 3.46 diff) and it is anything but sluggish even though popular opinion seems to think it should be.

I thought the standard diff was the highest ratio and the 2 alternatives were 3.73 & 3.91? confused

I always talk about them the other way round, I'm probably wrong.

Sorry drivetrain shunt - ok around town less with 3:91 but on the move at 60 mph plus more noticeable

All test times for press cars were with 3:73

But there again this subject has been done to death over the last 5 years.

For me the best is c/r box and 3:73 diff

You really need to drive each to find what you like - that would be my advice
