Does anyone know of any good websites where I can get average salary information for Estate Agents? or even average salaries in the property sector in london etc...
For sales jobs, how can you negotiate on a decent basic? Because obviously, the employers will say "its all about the commission!"...

The earnings differ so much from place to place and firm to firm. Even in offices, depending on your ability.
The worst performer in our SW London office probably was on about £28k per year, wheras one of the best probably nearer £90k.
And this figure only goes up if you're in a desireable area.
Regarding basic, you should have your own arguments for that.

Depends upon the company you work for...however for what is it worth in my office trainee negs start on £12K pa, with us paying upto £16K for a Senior Neg. We have a sliding scale of commission starting a 10% upto £150K of revenue generated then 15% thereafter.
As stated earlier as a junior neg you should be earning c.£30K pa. This is based upon generating c.£200K of fees.
Broken down, our av. fee is c.£7K per sale, thats about 29 sales per year, or roughly 1 a week, allowing for fall throughs.
These are the minimum performance levels we set, we want people to achieve, and the reality is if you aren't doing this then you won't make enough to live on (in London anyway) and you won't be making the company any money either. It's harsh but that's business.

Many moons ago I thought about Estate Agency but chose recruitment instead which I've been half decent at I guess.
What amazes me about EA is how little it pays- If one of my guys pulls in £200k in fees they'll get paid £55k inc their basic.
Is it not massively frustrating dealing with chains etc?
