S3c Wheels.....

Following on from an old post about wheels, I still need to do something about mine....I still think the Chimera option is probably the one to go for, however, has anyone ever fitted Wire Wheels to an S?

I've never seen an S with wires.

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago with pictures of someones S with wire wheels fitted, not my cup of tea but a lot of people on here did seem to like them, each to their own.

The only other pretty alternative, in my view, are Minilites - either originals or the Compomotive/GB/Supalite copies. I keep on scouring ebay but no luck as yet...

ummmm...think you're all right! The Chimeria or restored S3c wheels has to be the way forward!

Next question...Wing mirrors - best option for replacement - is it still the TT or MX5 option??

Exactly right - but 5 1/2 J's might look just a bit skinny on an S3 ! Problem is that 16x8's with the correct offset don't come along every day...

I like the idea of 8" myself but am worried about the scrub issue what offset do you plan to use?

Must say my preference is for the Oz 8 spokes, always thought the Chim wheels a little bland looking purely IMHO. If I had to choose alternatives, the Minilite style would be the way I would go, they look really classy and suit the S.

Are those 15's or 16's and could you tell me what make rims and what tyre size. Track looks wide - are you using spacers ?

I do like my OZ's but would love to have a set of Minilites also - and what might the "other" wheels be ???

Standard size (7 x 15") not sure about ET but 10mm spacers on front and none rear (although I think the disc conversion pushes them out a little), tyres are again standartd size 205 Vr 60 x 15 Toyo's. Don't think 16's or larger were available but wanted to keep the Old Fashioned look, not the modern all wheel and rubber bands for tyres

Bought from www.midlandwheels.com and made ( or marketed ?) by JBW. If you're any where near as old as me you'll probably remember John Brown Wheels from those heady "Custom Car" days of the 70's !!!

As for my next Wheel adventure you'll have to wait a day or two, think it will be a definate "Marmite" job
