Hello. I'm a loooong time lurker here and always keep my eye on the watches. I can't justify the expense unfortunately of some of the watches that come through here but my prized watch is a Tissot Quadrato with blue face and steel strap.
Anyway. I wondered if anyone could help. It must be a year or so ago at least that I saw a picture of a driving watch that sat along the inside edge of the wrist so it could be quickly viewed without taking your hand off the wheel or twisting it and I'm sure it was an analogue movement and I'm wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a watch like this. I've never seen one since and I've been searching ever since.

Omega did them. Omega Driving Chronostop. Quite rare, though...

That said, I'm sure another manufacturer did them, too. A quick google suggests there are other "driver's watches" but the lay out may be back-of-wrist-face-turned-45-degrees and side-of-wrist rather than underside.

I've never really seen the point of these, given that not only is your wrist at a near vertical angle, but it's also sideways on (and cars have clocks). The only watch to have addressed the sideways on issue was that Bugatti monstrosity as far as I know, and even that only addressed the sideways on ssue. It didn't address the near vertical angle of the wrist.

That Rolex isn't the one I mean. It was square/rectangular but actually sat on the inside of the wrist, the bit below the thumb. It's more the novelty design that caught my eye.
I know what you mean. Its from the olden days 40/50's? when truck drivers had HUGE steering wheels. They could look at the time without turning their wrist or taking their hand off the wheel to look at the face. Can't for the life of me remeber where I saw it
