WOW! The hard sell.....
Discussion
or rather trying so hard not to sell.
Just rang up about this car....

Its what i'm after, it's cheap and looks nice, if it drove ok and the seller seemed decent i'd of had it, anyway i kicked it off with the usual phone enquiry.
Vendor: Hello
WW: Hi i'm ringing up about the BMW 3 series advertised in autotrader
Vendor: Yes
WW: I was wondering if you could give me a few more details on it
Vendor: Like what?
WW: Has it got any Service History?
Vendor: No
WW: Er ok, do you know when it was last serviced.
Vendor: No
WW: Do you own the car (Despite the advert i wasn't sure if it was a trader or not, certainaly didn't sound like somebody who was used to wheeling and dealing in anything apart from ASBO's)
Vendor: No i'm a trader
WW: Could you give me the details on the MOT (any advisories etc was what i was getting at)
Vendor: It's in the advert
WW: Ok how bigs the crack in the windscreen?
Vendor: Big enough that it needs replacing
WW: How big is that in inches
Vendor: As big as your hand.
WW: OK thanks *put the phone down*
Seing it written down doesn't really capture how the conversation went; all my questions where answered in the arsiest tone imaginable, maybe i just caught her (didn't give her name) at a bad moment but even if it had FSH i wouldn't touch it with someone elses barge-pole now.
I came off the phone rather taken aback, i've never encountered anything like it - not least from someone who is supposed to be selling something.

Well its about 60% of the price it should be for a 330 sport so what do you expect?
its got no history.
it sounds dodgy.
it looks nasty.
I'll bet it gets sold to the first muppet who does not care about the fact its been clocked, crashed and may even still have some finance left on it - the main thing is it was in their price range and its got 18 inch alloys.
'Innit.

That actually reminds me of when i phoned a private seller for a 325Ci i had my i on a few years ago. It was cheap but not unusually so and seller was vague and lazy on the phone, no effort to sell it and seemed deperate to get off the phone. I asked what the reg num was for Hpi check and he gave it to me, i checked it and it was a 10 owner car that was Cat C written off!!! I phoned the guy back and he said it was the first he had heard of it - still not bothered about it though!
It is very very cheap, there is more to this car than meets the eye.
They can talk how they like, as the phone will be ringing every ten minutes, eventually someone will ring who isn't asking too many questions.
If you want a proper car, search for one that costs the right money. Nobody under sells anything.

The Crack Fox said:
It is suspiciously cheap. And the bonnet doesn't look like it is straight. And the windscreen is cracked. And the seller doesn't mention they're a trader in their advert. ...
Advert says clearly that its a "trade seller" and gives number for "dealer" as opposed to "seller"Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
