what wheels fit an E39?

Looking to buy a set of wheels to replace the 17" sports on my 99 E39 528 - does anyone know what other models will bolt straight on - i.e. e36, e46, e60's etc?

Hi Mattman

No other BMW wheels go straight onto an E39. The unique centre bore size of 74.1 on the E39 and 72.something on all other BMW's is the reason for this. You can make other BMW wheels fit by boring the centres out. One thing to watch for will be offsets of any other wheels, for instance E46 wheels dont have the same offsets but with use of spacers can be used.

I'm a little vague on the exact offsets and which wheels need what or boring out etc etc, so some other specific BMW forums searches will get you the information.

Have you also though about high quality after market wheels as well?

cheers dennis - to be honest I need 1 new tyre for mine and all the wheels could do with a refurb - was thinking if i can get a set of decent wheels from ebay for the price of a new tyre I could do the refurb myself or sell the 17's and get the money back!
