Registration valuation

Thinking of putting my reg up for sale as I have new one to be transferred to the Cerb.

I am trying to gauge a rough valuation (assuming it is actually worth something) for my existing plate as I don't want to be fleeced by one of the registration companies.

Anyway, the reg I want to sell is R4 SVB and when I bought the car was strategically positioned to read R4.5 VB. (V8)

Any ideas as to its potential valuation and is it worth me putting on the Classifieds?

I'd disregard the V8 bit, in my eyes it doesnt really read that way.

Similar plates on dvla site (eg R4 BVB)for about £250 but the price is dependant on finding someone with those intitals etc.

always worth chucking in classifieds though.

Another stupid question:

Is it possible to put my existing no. plate on retention and then transfer my new no. (the one that I have just bought which is already on retention) on to my car in one go?

Or do I have to have a temporary number in between?

Yep, that's possible. All very easy, and even better if you have the time and patience to go to a DVLA Local Office with all the forms, as they'll turn it around on the spot. Have a wander round the DVLA website for info and forms.
