Europa Consultants
Discussion
Just to post a big thumbs up to the guys at Europa Consultants - anniesdad et al, - for the great service I received following an incident with my bike in February 2010.
Parked in the car park at work, some dozy old codger reversed to get round a vehicle blocking her exit, and in doing so knocked my bike over casusing around £1200 of damage.
This happened in the Rupublic of Oreland and my broker here was useless. Despite having full European cover I wasn't entitled to a replacement bike as I was outside the UK, similarly the cost of a hire car wasn't covered either. End of.
The third party denied everything even though it was caught on CCTV. Her husband came to the office and threatened violence and they refused to give me their insurance details but unfortunately for them, all vehicles over there are required to have their insurance policy details displayed in their windscreen.
Despite each being supplied with copies of the CCTV footage and the third party insurance details, my broker and insurers took 8 months and lots of chasing to process the claim, authorise repairs, make payment to the garage for those repairs and to confirm my no claims wasn't affected. During which time my work contract had finished and I was back in the UK. I then had to travel back to Ireland to collect the bike following repairs.
I had contacted Steve early on, and thankfully he took on the case. Today I received a cheque for almost £1000 to cover car hire and my excess.
Thanks guys
