Am planning to change the gearbox turret oils and seals this weekend on my new toy, but before I ordered them from the recommended specialists, I rang my local Mazda dealer just by way of comparison.

The result being that I saved £6 plus VAT versus the specialists prices!!

Used to see this all the time with my older Porkers - 9 times out of 10 the main dealer parts prices were the same or cheaper than the Internet 'specialist' parts suppliers.

Buyer beware!

Anyway, also ordered the nylon bush for the base of the gearstick - that was a thumping £3.18 plus VAT!

OEM rubber ARB bushes plus the drop links are also cheaper from Mazda dealer than via specialist parts suppliers too, I've just discovered...

Now, should i go for the balljointed arb drop links or stick with fresh standard ones...??!!

I thought I'd try the local Mazda dealer when I needed a calliper recently. Just to find out the price. After a good long time on hold I gave up and got one from Autolink.

But I do agree. On a few occasions they have been cheap for things. It's also far easier when you're after "One of those bolts that go into the clips, for the roof". They at least have a good chance of knowing exactly what you mean.

We aren't cheap at some things, I know calipers are cheaper elsewhere and other stuff, but if you get a friendly dealer you'll get cheap parts wink

I know that you always need to shop around for prices, so you guys will undoubtedly get more of my folding in the months to come!

Dealer is very friendly and the parts lady is extremely cute with gorgeous brown eyes...!

..not that this has influenced my buying decisions in any way
wink
